The name Dachshund, means badger dog, which says it all. The original medieval European hunting dogs similar only in possessing the tracking ability of hounds and proportions and temperament of terriers, because they were used to follow badger to earth, were called badger-dogs or dachshunds. German breeders are credited for making the Dachshunds what they are today. Preferred size is under 10 pounds. We raise both long and short hair, with a variety of colors.
